Natracare: Toxins in my Pads & Tampons?

“When I read a report on the health dangers of my traditional tampons, I quickly decided to try organic 100% cotton tampons. I was also curious to know how they would perform. First of all, I’d like to stress how much I have hated pads and pantyliners in the past because I found they were completely uncomfortable. Now, after trying Natracare’s natural pads and certified organic 100% cotton tampons, I cannot stress enough how soft they are and how much of a pleasure it is to wear pads and tampons again and feeling at ease knowing that I am not exposing my body to toxins! I urge you to read the information below and review your feminine care products. It is crucial that every woman think about this monthly affair!” – Ravit, Founder of Nature’s Wizard.

Natracare feminine hygiene products were first developed in 1989 by its founder, Susie Hewson, as a direct response to health and environmental concerns.  Dioxin pollution is a serious environmental problem that pollutes our air, water, soil, plants and is stored in our fat cells forever.  It is caused through various natural and industrial processes including pesticide spraying and chlorine bleaching of materials used to produce paper products, such as tissues, sanitary pads and tampons. Many women are unaware that most proprietary feminine care brands contain synthetic and plastic ingredients such as chlorine, rayon binders, plastics, surfactants, resins, fragrances and polyacrylate absorbents and that conventional tampons are made from chlorine bleached rayon or a combination of conventionally grown cotton and rayon.  Chlorine bleaching produces the unwanted by-product Dioxin, a toxic carcinogen which has been found to collect in the fatty tissues of animals, including humans and should, therefore, be a real concern for women. Published scientific reports have shown that evidence is growing that even low levels of dioxins may be linked to cancer, endometriosis, low sperm counts and immune system suppression. Considering a woman may use as many as 11,000 tampons in her lifetime, she may be subjecting herself to additional dioxin exposure.  Natracare tampons are certified organic 100% cotton that are totally chlorine-free.Every year, over 45 billion sanitary pads are disposed of somewhere! Placed end to end, they would stretch all the way to the sun and to bury them would take a hole 300 feet deep and 300 feet wide.  Natracare products are made from only pure and natural sustainable materials.  They are free from crude oil derived plastics, polyacrylate superabsorbents, petroleum derivatives, synthetic ingredients and perfume.  They are over 95% biodegradable.   To find out more about Natracare’s range of feminine hygiene products, please visit www.natracare.com

I already discovered Natracare and while I find the pads don’t hold up as well as brand name products, I’m willing to make the sacrifice regardless because I’m concerned about toxins being absorbed by my body. I use the pads and tampons and am pretty happy with them.
Thanks for keeping us all informed.

I think the same way as you. I gear towards health vs. comfort or something else like smell (of a product). Thanx for sharing Talya!
